Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was to receive the great French award “ The Knights Of The order of Arts And Letters (Chevailer Dans I'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) on Wednesday but being a true Indian she had postponed this award ceremony. She was to receive the award from the French Ambassador Jerome Bonnafont it was given to her on Wednesday which was the National day of France. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cancelled this award ceremony on the last minute in the aftermath of Mumbai serial Bomb Blast. Later this ceremony was shifted in the evening.
Later Aishwarya Rai Bacchan and Abhishek Bachchan were seen at Taj Palace at Delhi nearly at 9 O clock they were also accompanied with Jerome Bonnafont the French ambassador and Farooq Abdullah. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said that ” we are very much shocked and sad about the Bomb Blast . I on this very sad incident don't want to celebrate the prudent me and my family decided to postpone this event. I am also thank full to French that they understand are sentiments and cooperated with us.”

On asking about the Mumbai Blast actress said that “ we are very much shocked and saddened with the news of blast but we are praying for the sufferers and their family but this is not the point of loosing the self confidence but we all have to be strong enough and show the preperators of terrorism that these blast cannot break us and we will keep praying for the sufferers”.

Aish to work with Rituparno

The dazzling diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has signed up another project titled Devi Chaudhurani with national award winning filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh. Both Rituparno Ghosh and former Miss World have earlier worked together in movies like ‘Chokher Bali’ and ‘Raincoat’. Devi Chaudhurani is a novel written down in 1884 by renowned writer Bankim Chandra Chatterjee.

The film adaptation of this novel is one of Suchitra Sen’s most appreciated works. A source mentioned that the Bachchan bahu has asked for the DVDs of Suchitra Sen’s movie, which is about how a typical prosperous housewife turns into the leader of a group of dacoits. The source added further that the movie will be an adaptation of the novel which is set during the 1880s but Aishwarya Rai wanted to do some research on the actress. The actress has always regarded Suchitra Sen as one of the talented actress that Bengal has ever produced. Suchitra Sen also wanted to meet Aishwarya Rai once, but she knows that this is something impossible. The actress director jodi had several meetings to discuss about this project in detail. Both have confirmed the news of the flick being made. The movie will be made in both Hindi and Bengali versions.
The source further clarified that the script has already been handed over to the sizzling actress and she is about to allot dates for the shooting.

Filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh had discussed this with Aishwarya when they were shooting for Chokher Bali itself but he at least said yes from her when she was in Kolkata last year to accept an award for Raavan. In 2003, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan acted in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Bengali film too. The actress mentioned that she haven’t spoken with Rituparno Ghosh till yet, the last she had a talk with the filmmaker was during the National Awards. Aishwarya Rai however confirmed the news asserting that she has discussed a screen adaptation of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s famous Bengali novel, Devi Chaudhurani, with the director with whom she had earlier associated on Chokher Bali, adapted from Rabindranath Tagore’s Binodini, and Raincoat, inspired by a short story by O Henry.

"Devi Chaudhurani” was first published in 1884 and later translated into English by Subodh Chunder Mitter. The film archives the revolutionary charge by a woman at a time when most were still following the veil system. Endangered by Devi Chaudhurani’s patriotic passion that brought more women out of the shells on the streets, the British banned the book. The ban prevailed only post-Independence. The ace filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh as reports suggests approached the former Miss World for the Hindi-Bengali bilingual when they were shooting for “Chokher Bali” and got a approval from the actress soon when she was in Kolkata last year to bag the Best Actress award for Raavan that also featured Abhishek Bachchan donning negative role..

Aishwarya Rai stated that her relationship with Rituparno Ghoshis not a matter of few seconds and that they have been knowing each other since a long time. Aishwarya also told that the filmmaker narrated almost every flick subject and Chokher Bali and Raincoat have bagged National Awards, for Best Feature Film in Bengali and Best Feature Film in Hindi, respectively. In the supposedly hapless month of January, Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan starrer ‘No One Killed Jessica, did well at the box-office.

On an important note, the movie got an opening response from audiences, signifying that viewers are no longer disinclined to female centrality. Closely related to the matter came Dhobi Ghat directed by Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao. The movie, had Aamir's presence, but it was sold as a Kiran Rao flick. The movie created box-office business unimaginable for a movie of this type and has brought art house cinema in fashion once again.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar stated that at last the parable that only women-oriented movies made by him succeed has been devastated. He further added that it's really great to see more and more women-centric movies working these days. As it directly proves that actresses have at least begun to get their draw at the box-office.

Tanu Weds Manu, which collected Rs 24 crore in the first ten days even with the World Cup matches, is plans to come up as one of the biggest hits of 2011. Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan starrer was sold on the character that Kangana played, and the beautiful lass was at the front position. Yeh Saali Zindagi, revolved around the character of Chitrangada Singh, grossed decent reviews at the box-office, and collected Rs 11 crore collection net.

The success of such movies has already prompted producers to invest more and more on films like this. There's R Balki's production in which veteran actress Sridevi will be portraying the character of a housewife who sets out to find her identity in the male dominating society. And Balaji Telefilms is making a film on the life of Silk Smitha, featuring Vidya Balan in the lead role.

Deepika Padukone, who is going to flaunt in an item number in Rohan Sippy's upcoming film Dum Maaro Dum, was the only actresss seen on the teaser poster though the film features Abhishek Bachchan, Pratiek Babbar and Bipasha Basu. Well! One can say that women have begun to won the race.

The third edition of Lavasa Women's Drive Awards that took place at a suburban five star hotel in Mumbai recently.

Anuradha Paraskar Sr Vice President – Marketing, Lavasa Corporation Ltd and Devieka Bhojwani Vice President Women's Cancer Initiative welcomed the participants. The beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan presented awards to the the winners of the Lavasa Women's Drive.

The beautiful actress honoured Anisha Oberoi

with an award for her continual fight against breast cancer and to Dr K Dinshaw for her exemplary work in cancer research. Stars of the upcoming film Faltu have also spotted there during handed over the few awards.

Stand-up comedian Bharati kept everyone in splits while Shweta Pandit mesmerised audience with her rendition of Bollywood numbers. Said Anuradha, "The passionate involvement of all the participants was exemplary. Whilst at Lavasa, not only did they all enjoy the events but in fact many cancer survivors came forth and shared their experiences urging all women to be careful and prevent cancer.

The state government's new proposal of Kaushalya Vardhan Talim Kendra (KVK) for providing skill development training, has received more than 47 percent participation of women as compared to hardly 10 percent participation of women in the courses run by Industrial Training Institutes.

Aish unwell

Aishwarya clarifies that though she was not well since few days, even than she went to Singapore to attend the award function and didn’t threw any tantrums. Recently it was reported that Aishwarya Rai threw tantrums at an award function in Singapore.

However the actress has denied these reports and mentioned that she was in Singapore for the award night in advance and that she never even mentioned to amend anything otherwise than what was planned by the organizers of the event, would have seen her comfort first. Aishwarya rehearsed till late hours when all had finished with their rehearsals. The next day her scheduled rehearsals timing was changed on the last minute, hence she did not get proper time to rehearse on stage and stayed back and practiced in her room with a dancer.

Aish walked the red carpet because the organizers requested her presence there as the international media was awaiting her. Despite of keeping unwell, Aishwarya anyhow managed to complete her commitment…

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was present at the recent Zee Cine Awards which were held in Singapore which was covered by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation – and the actress also thanked the citizens of for their immense support of the Bollywood industry.

The actress told FBC’s Mirchi FM Programs director that the support from Fiji means a lot to her and that she can never forget that. Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan, who visited Fiji in 1998 said that he fond memories of Fiji and was very much fascinated with the hospitality. Grafting expert and Padmashree horticulturist Haji Kaleemullah Khan has made a different variety of guava and named it after Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The new variety of guava looks like an apple and is more sweet smelling. According to Haji Kaleemullah Khan, the biggest advantage of this variety of the fruit is it’s soft seeds.

The horticulturist mentioned that all measures were taken to ensure that the product is free from any possible side effect which chemical fertiliser or pesticide may have on fruits. In May last year, Haji Kaleemullah Khan grafted a new variety of mango, which he named after famous crickter Sachin Tendulkar. Haji Kaleemullah Khan has also won the Padmashree award for growing more than three hundred varieties of mangoes of different shapes and sizes on one tree. The tree is about hundred years old and he started working on it in 1987 to craft different varieties of fruit.

The co-producer of recent Bollywood release Guzaarish has justified the controversial promotional posters of the movie that showcased Aishwarya Rai Bachchan smoking a cigarette as it was a requirement of the script.

A letter issued by UTV Software Communications Private Limited to the National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), a tobacco vigilante organisation headquartered in Goa, has manetioned that Aishwarya's smoking act on the posters was necessary. A spokesperson of UTV Software communications limited has said in a letter to an anti-tobacco organization, that te scene in which the character, played by Aishwarya Rai, is shown smoking was merely a creative requirement for the script.

It has been clarified that neiher does Guzaarssh is based on smoking in any manner whatsoever. In the past made actors Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi among Bollywood biggies either shell out fines to the court for directly or indirectly promoting tobacco on the screen and off it. Guzaarsih also starred Hrithik Roshan.

Longinus further told that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to make the song totally different and unique. The choreographer asked him if they can add a little bit of Spanish touch to the song and give it a earthy feel too.

The filmmaker liked the thought, so it was decided that the whole dance will have a rustic look to make the song more natural. Longinus Fernandes , who won a Filmfare Award for best choreography for the song "Pappu can't dance sala..." in Imran Khan starrer flick Jaane tu Ya Jaane Na, had assisted Farah Khan for a couple of years. Also starring Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan as paraplegic patient, the movie is scheduled to hit screens on November 19, 2010.

Then with the success of Devdas, Aishwarya was presented as Parvati, the duo celebrated the magic of their creativity once again. Now with the upcoming release Guzaarish, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be playing the character of a nurse named Sofia. Guzaarish, going to be released on November 19, also has Hrithik Roshan portraying the role of a magician who becomes a paraplegic when a magic trick goes wrong. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has made successful movies like Khamoshi, Devdas, Black.

Bollywood personified actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said that she is all set to clinch more with the Tamil cinema after working on the blockbuster Endhiran that also featured veteran actor Rajinikanth. As for now, Aishwarya Rai is familiar with the language, though the actress still can’t risk speaking Tamil on a regular basis.

At the same time, she also feels that Tollywood is one of the fastest growing film industries and she would surely like to be a part of more Tamil movies in the coming future. Aishwarya started her film career with Tamil film titled Iruvar, has done three more flicks for the Tollywood film fraternity and today she really feels that now she can easily understand the laungage after her work in Jeans, Raavanan and Endhiran.

Speaking about her character in Endhiran, Aishwarya asserted that it was not a very difficult role to enact onscreen but she is very thankful to director Shankar for offering her a role that any ordinary heroine would love doing at any point of time in her career.
