Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as revealed was approached by the filmmaker Rohan Sippy to portray Abhishek Bachchan's wife in the upcoming release Dum Maaro Dum. Aishwarya Rai who’s the bahu of Bachchan parivaar was first hanging on the list but later on the role was given to Vidya Balan. According to the buzz, Vidya has a very important cameo in the movie, but she was absolutely not the first choice to enact Abhishek's partner.

Rohan Sippy and producer Fox Star Studios approached Vidya as things didn’t worked out with Aishwarya. When Rohan Sippy was asked about the casting, the filmmaker denied to reveal any information regarding the matter.
